for theire homewards voyage, and were preparinge with all speede for theire
saide returne, haveinge before laden and made readie all theire goods for the
said [X] homweards voyage, All which he knoweth beinge sailemaker of the said
shipp as aforesaid And otherwise he cannot depose:/

To the seaventh and eighth articles

To the ninth he saith That after the said shipp had overcome the said
impediments and was readie to depart, shee was hindred still for the
space of two or three dayes by contrary winde and there shee came
downe the River to Newport Newes where they were againe
constrayned to stopp to take in water and fire wood, and other necessaries foure
or five dayes and upon beinge cleere to attend eight or nine dayes more. for the wind
which then servinge her Master and Companie hasted and came directlie away
with her prosecutinge theire course for Middleborowe but in such theire [XXX GUTTER]
they were on or about, the 21th of may last (old stile) met with and seized
by Captaine Purvis in one of the Parliaments shipps, and afterwards
brought into Yarmouth, which hee knoweth beinge aboard her when shee
was soe taken. And otherwise hee cannot depose./.

To the last he saith that the said shipp the ffortuna did not att Virginia
deliver out or dispose of anie victualls Arms Ammunition, or
materialls for warr of his certaine knowledge And otherwise hee
cannot depose./

To the Interrogatories/. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the ffirst he referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition and otherwise
answeareth negativelie:/

To the second he saith That the said shipp the ffortuma[?a] is fflemish or
dutch builte, and that the said producents as he hath heard bought her
of whome he knoweth not:/

To the third he saith that the producents have traded for some yeares last [XXX GUTTER]
and have formerlie received goods thence, and that the goods aboard, are
belonginge to anie in Virginia or elsewhere, but meerelie to the said
producents saveinge a quantitie belonginge to the Master and Companie and some [XX GUTTER]
a younge man of [?Tervier] And otherwise he cannot answeare saveinge as
aforesaid/

To the ffowerth he saith that the said shipp carried tenn guns and noe more
from Middleborowe to Virginia, and brought the same and noe more[XXX GUTTER]
the same were all aboard or att the tyme of her said seizure by Captaine Purvis who tooke
two of them videlicet two brasse peeces, and otherwise he answeareth negatively sa[XXX GUTTER]
shee left noe guns att Virginia,

To the ffyfth hee saith that he never heard nor tooke notice att Virginia that the
Inhabitants there had sett upp themselves in opposition to and as sistinct from this state
and Commonwealth of England, and saith there were noe Passengers carried in the
said shipp to Virginia./

To the sixth he saith that his said precontest dirricke Janson went out Supra Cargo
or Merchant of the said Shipps Ladinge to dispose and traffique away the same
to the use of the said producents, and otherwise hee refereth himselfe to his foregoeing
deposition and saveinge the same he cannot further depose/

To the last he saith that he cannot depose saveinge he knoweth not of anie [?papers GUTTER]
or Writings whatsoever torne, throwne overboard, or otherwise made away
