London gen etats 32 annorum aut eo circiter testis in hac parte
productus iuratus et examinatus./
Ad primum arlum allgationis ex parte drorum Clement et South in hac parte
dat et oblat dicit et deponit That bbefore the departure of the arlate shipp
the Discovery from the port of London on the voyage in question and before
she came to Gravesend the arlate Gregory Clement and Robert South
did declare and make knowne unto him this deponent
that the sayd shipp was bounde out on a
man of warr voyage with letters of marque to surprize and take the
shipps and goods of the Kinge of Spayne or his subiects, and this deponent
being Pursers mate of the said shipp did likewise make knowne soe much
to divers of the sayd shipps company and heard divers of the sayd
company speake of it one to another. And this he affirmeth upon his oath to
be true/ Et alr nescit deponere.
