8th July 1637

David Heemssen de Dorobornia mercator aetatis 38 annorum
aut circiter testis in hac parte productus iuratus et examinatus

Ad primum et secundum arlos allegacionis ex parte die de Thosse et al in hac
parte dat et oblat dicit et deponit That the arlate Peter de Thosse
and company within the tyme arlate were generally reputed at Dover
to be owners of the arlate shipp called the ffortune of Dover (whereof
Cornelius Charles Nieuport was master) and within the tyme aforesayd
the sayd shipp sett sayle from the porte of Dover bounde for Saint
Lucar in Spayne the premisses he knoweth to be true for that he was
at Dover when the sayd shipp sett sayle fromthence, and the master of her
before his foeinge forth on the sayd voyage toud this deponent
that the sayd de Thosse and company were owners of her, and (to his nowe
best remembrance) he this deponent sent out some letters in her to be delivered
at Saint Lucar Et alr nescit deponere/

Ad 2um rendet That he liveth nowe in Dover but was borne at Antwerpe
in Brabant, and is factor for divers merchants inhabitinge in
Spayne and fflanders, as namely, for William Clowe, Alexander Maris
John Johnson de Ristoven; John de Padellia Saramellia, and Peter Van
Eoll all of Sivill in Spayne, Alsoe he is factor for John Halfe ffrancisco
Wallis, Edward Hill, John and Thomas Schiyll, all of Lisbone merchants
