Transcription

the 23th day of August 1636. Last past the interrogate William Penryn
of London merchant came abord the shipp called the Damaske Rose of London (wherof this
deponent then was master) being the under sayle off against Yarmouth
in the Isle of Weighte, and did imbarke himselfe to goe passenger in her
to Virgnia, and uppon Tuesdaye the fower and twentith day of
November last past, in the course of the sayd shipp towards
Virginia about one hundred leagues (as he guesseth) short of Virginia
the sayd Penryn dyed and departed out of this life, abord the sayd
shipp, and this deponent sayeth that he knewe the sayd
Penryn by sight for the space of a yeare or two before he came abord
the sayd shipp neere the Isle of Weight as aforesayd. And this he affirmeth
uppin his oath to be true. And further he cannot depose savinge he
sayeth that the sayd shipp the Damaske Rose departed from Tilbury
Hope on her sayd voyage to Virginia on the sixth day of August 1636
aforesayd./

To the first Interrogatorye he sayeth That he knewe William Penryn of
London merchant about two yeares and a halfe before his decease
and he soe knewe him by reason that the sayd Penryn dwelte in the parish
of Saint Michael Crooked Lane aforesayd, and was one of the Churchwardens,
of that parish at the tyme of his last departure from London towards Virginia./
