Ethelbert Morgan against Anthont
Hodghen
the personall Answeres of Anthony Hodgson
made to the pretended Libell given into Court and
admitted against him on the part and behalfe
of Margaret Morgan the wife of Ethelbert
Morgan the Relict of Henry Powcastle
deceased followeth
1. To the first pretended Article hee answereth and
beleveth that in the yeare of our Lord 1645. 1646:
1647. 1648. 1649. 1650: and 1651. the said Henry
Powcastle now deceased the then Husband of the said
Margarett was Owner and lawfull proprietor of one Sixteenth
part of the ship the Margarett of Newcastle of which
ship hee the said Anthony Hodson was for all that
time master, and not longer And otherwise he doth not believe the said
Article to be true in any parte
2. To the Second Article of the said pretended Libell hee
answereth and doth not believe the said Article to be
true in any part thereof
3. To the third pretensed Article hee answereth and believeth
that in the yeares and moneth by him confessed in
his Answeres to the first Article of this Libell and also in the
yeare of our Lord God 1652. and not longer hee this
rendentw as Master of the said ship the Margarett of New
=castle and had and tooke upon him the care and government
of her as Master and Governour of her and for and duringe the time
afore by him confessed and not longer was accounted repu
=ted Master of her, And otherwise hee doth not believe the said
Article to be true in any part
4. To the 4th pretended Articel he answereth and believeth that for
and during all the time before by him confessed wiles hee
was and continued Master of teh said shipp the Margarett hee this
rendent made 20. voiages into Holland and to this Port
of London and not more, but in all these voiages never
made any benefitt to the Owners of her, he this rendent
for all that time being Owner of one 8th part of her
for which he is out of purse more then ever hee
