- Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
- Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
- Save the page

The personall Answeres of James Warren
made to the pretensed positions of a Libell given
into this Court on the behalfe of William
Wilkinson and Companie as Owners of the Ship the
Exchange

mentioned, and within the time aforesaid the said vessell
was bound forth upon a voiage from the port of London
to Virginia and had on board her divers wares and
merchandizes of value, and also severall passengers,
as is alleaged but who else are the proprietors or in
Companie with the said Wilkinson he doth not knowe
