master of the ship arlate and soe continued master
of the said ship from the 20th of May 1649
or thereabouts untill the 16th of March 1651
or thereabouts beinge appointed Master of the said
ship by the arlate Rowland Wilson John Wood, and one
Thomas Walter beinge the Guinney company
and that for such hee this rendent was dureinge
the said time (as hee beleeveth) Commonly accompted
and otherwise hee doth not beleeve this pretensed
position to be true in any part thereof./
To the second pretensed position hee answereth that
this rendent beinge appointed master of the ship
arlate for a voyage to be made with the ship
arlate from this Port of London to the Barbadoes
Antego Monserratte and Saint Christophers
and from thence to Santa Crux, and from
thence to Guiney ad from Guiney to Santa Cruz
againe and to some other places did uppon or
about the 27th of June 1649. set saile with
the said ship from Gravesend uppon the said
intended voyage and about a day or two next
before the day in which hee sett saile as aforesaid
there was a paper or schedule of the tenor
of the schedule annexed to this Libell brought
and delivered unto him this rendent aboard
the said ship the Jonathan then lyeinge att
Gravesend arlate and hee beleeveth
that hee this rendent befoe the sendinge
of the said Schedule arlate was master
