The personall answears of John Jackson
made to the positions of a libell given in
against him on the behalfe of Thomas
Brainfford doe followe.

To the first pretended position he answereth
and beleeveth that hee this respondent beinge
resident at Marcells within the time arlate
as a factor there for divers English merchants
and amongst others for the articulate Brainfford
did within the time articulate write ober to
the said Bramfford as the Custome of
factors is to their principalls signifyeinge
unto them what comodities are there best
vendible and this rendent beleeveth that in
his said letter hee advised the said Brainfford
that Pilchards and drye fish was then and
there a verye good comodtie and advised him
to send over a shippe laden therewith for his
the said Brainffords account, which letter
this rendent beleeveth the sid Brainfford
receaved, And did as hee beleeveth
thereuppon freighte the shipp articulate of
the arlate Plumleigh and Mathewes and
laded her with Pilchards and drye ffish, for,
his the said Brainffords owne account as
hee beleeveth and sent one Humfry Smith
the said Brainsffords brother in lawe factor
of her to whome hee consigned the said shippe
