Abstract & context
Katherine Smith, daughter of Sir George Smith, writes a social letter to Sir George Oxenden. She incloses a gift for Oxenden, to be carried to him by Captain Millett.
Sir George Smith and his family lived in a house in Throgmorton Street, London, from whence Katherine sent her letter. Shortly after her father's death in 1665 she married the London merchant and alderman, John Fenn. Sir William Ryder comments on this marriage in a later letter to Oxenden.
