thristie hart, touching his usage}
by the Captaine of the Preston frigot.}

Hessel Jacobson Neve of der Schelling in North Holland
mariner, Master of the shipp the Thirstie
hart, aged 40 yeares or thereabouts sworne as in the
acts of Court, saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet.

That his said shipp the Thriftie hart in her passage from Lisbone for
Roan in ffrance laden with sugars, tobaccoe and Brazil-wood comming
about tenn leagues short of haver de Grace on the coast of ffrance
was about three weekes since met with and seized by the Preston
ffrigot, in the service of this Commonwealth, and about a day and halfe
after brouht up to Portsmouth, which hee knoweth
to be true because hee was the Master of the said shipp the hart
and upon the said seizure taken out of her, into the said frigot and
brought neere the Ile of Wight and thence to Portsmouth.
And saith that the said seizure being made in the evening, the Captaine
and Companie of the frigot set saile with the said frigot and the hart
fastned to her and sailed all night and in the morning came neere the
Ile of Wight, and then slacking saile the said Captaine with some
of his Companie in his two boates went aboard this deponents said shipp
and tooke this deponent and two of his men out of the frigot alonge
with them, in whose presence they fell to plundring this deponents said
shipp and tooke out of the same and carried away fiftie large
Rolls of tobaccoe, and a great quantitie of Brazil wood, and three full
chest sof sugar one white and two other being (as hee beleeveth) Muscovadas, with a great
number of Oranges and lemmons, part of 68000 which this deponent had
aboard
