1. to speak or depose untruely in this cause to save? the goods in question
2. for or for any other consideration whatsoever, or against persons of
3. what profession of Religion soever mai may having taken a lawfull
4. oath (as hee saith hee hath donne in this business) hee conceiveth himselfe
5. bound to speake the truth, though it were for or against a Turke
6. much more a Christian though differing from the Roman profession
7. and there without any dispension of absolution, and otherwise hee
8. conceiveth the question captious, and nothing concerning this cause hee knoweth not.
9. To the third hee saith hee well knoweth the interr[ie] Ignatious de
10. Londohola, and Antonia de Porte, and is himselfe the other person
11. intered, and saith they are all Spaniard[s], subiect of the King of
12. Spaine, and acknowledge themselves for such.
13. To the fourth hee saith the said shipp was wholly freighted by the
14. said mr ffernandez for the said voyage, and that out outward
15. ouward lading ˹(within a small matter)˺ was belonging to him, but not all the homewards
16. lading referring himself to the bills and saith hee this examinate
17. at the Canaries entered and owned the said exported goods as his
18. owne, and there hee owned and tooke upon him to be the owner
19. of the said goods there laden aboard her by him, but made entrie
20. thereof as belonging to the said severall persons mentioned
21. the said three last bil[l]s namely in the fourth third, fourth and fifth
22. bil]l]s ˹schedules˺were showed unto him namely to Ignatious de Ladahola, Antonio
23. de Ponte, Antonio ffernandez Caravajall and this deponent according
24. to the said bil[l]s, and otherwise cannot answer saving what follows.
25. To the fifth hee saith hee went factor the said voyage as
26. aforesaid, and was to be to all the said shipps lading in regard
27. of her freight, but hee only there laded at the Canaries only the
28. foresaid mechandizes soe belonging to mr ffernandez, and for
29. when no having goods enough, hee [pleeded?] to others to
30. supplie the rest of the lading w[hi]ch hee brought home, as to
31. the said Painter and others, but the kindes or quantities soe laden
32. by them these others hee remembreth not, but referreth himselfe
33. therein to the bills of lading, and otherwise saving his
34. foregoing depos[iti]on hee cannot answer.
35. To the 6th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing dep[ositio]n to the
36. fourth interrie and saith hee said and gave out on the time
37. of her lading that all the said homewards cargo was belonging
38. to the said Ignatious du Landahola, Antonio de Ponte and this
39. deponent (namely all the merchandize that was laden aboard
40. her at the Canaries) without saying or telling to any and those
41. that any part thereof belonged to mr ffefnandez; only as occasion
42. served hee spake or said what he thought most conduing to
43. make the lading there seem to be for Spaniards, and saith hee
44. knoweth the interrie mr Chillingworth and saw him on the Iland
45. of Teneriff, and both beleiveth hee told him as hee did severall
46. others, that hee would for ˹colour˺ [XX?] give the said goods some to mr ffernandez
47. and some to others ˹English and˺ that they were belonging to this examinate
48. and the said Landohola and de Ponte, w[hi]ch hee [braised?] and gave out to prefer prevent any discovery there of their belonging
