1. And otherwise negatively
2. To the second hee saith hee was as aforesaid Masters mate of the shipp in
3. question during the voyage interrate, and saith the some p:t of his GUTTER
4. wages for the said voyage aXpet XXpaye, this rondent not knowing how GUTTER
5. till the accompts between him and the said Master bee made up
6. To the third hee saith hee was present and heard the order interrate to
7. goe to Narmentier aforesaid to the said shipp and that a Dhacery hee
8. was made to that purpose, and saith hee knoweth not that it was at hocr GUTTER
9. or more pticularly therein expressed, then to go to Narmentiers aforesaid ˹there to take in the rest ˺
10. that the brandewindes or Aquavites aforesaid were to be discharged, as
11. they have at this Port of London, And further hee knoweth not./
12. To the 4th hee saith that hee sawe no moneys payd for the taking
13. or preserving of the Aquavites interrate, and that the said aquavites were
14. not unladen nor taken but in reference by the preservation of the said shipp
15. for that the said Master and Companie then reputed the said shipp to GUTTER
16. irrecoverable, but meerely and purely with an intent to preserve the
17. Merchants goods, and that if the said brandewine or Awuavite reached? GUTTER
18. had not been soe taken out and secured by the said Aleaxar Le Merchant
19. direction, the same swimming in the hould had in all likelihood been
20. broken in pieces, and ˹the aquavites˺ utterly lost to the Own:er thereof
21. To the 5th hee saith that if the said shipp had continued in the place where
22. shee first anchored as aforesaid, hee being a ˹more˺ commodious roade, than GUTTER
23. thereabouts) the dammage in question had in all probability not happened
24. and that the said dammage was neerely occasioned by her being GUTTER
25. in and anchored soe neere to the rocks and sandbancks as aforesaid

31. Pilott of the said shipp the ffortune aged 52 yeares or
32. thereabouts sworne and examined saith as followeth
33. To the first Arle or position of the said Libell hee saith that hee well
34. knoweth that in the moneths of September October November December
35. and January lilate the arlate Aleaxar Le Merchant was Master
36. and Commander of the arlate shipp the ffortune of Carmerey which
37. hee this examinate well knoweth having served as Pilott in and about
38. the said shipp all the voyage in question:
39. To the second hee saith that in the moneth of November ˹last past˺ in the yeare of
40. 1656: the said shipp being in the River of Nantes under the Control
41. and Conduct of the said Master did there receive, and there wshe GUTTER
42. on board her thirteen barrells of hogsheads, and three pipes of Aquavite
43. by the order of one Monsieur de Loney ffardiere a Merchant GUTTER
44. at Nantes to bee brought in the said shipp to this Port of London on
45. the accompt of an English Merchant, whose name this examinate knoweth not GUTTER
46. the ˹Master of the˺ same shipp being then alsoe ordered to thence to Narmentier
47. arlate, and as to the reight agreed upon for the transportation of the
48. said aquavites hee saith hee doeth not know nor vase any notre GUTTER
49. To the third hee saith that the said shipp in pursuance of the said Order
50. did shortly anchor the imbarqueing of the said Aquavites sett sayle anul? GUTTER
51. depart from the said River of Nantes, to Narmontier aforesaid being
52. there to go pfict her lading for England ˹by the said Lonys direction˺ which was to bee putt on board
53. by the arlate Mr La Cestuerie Ceazean the Correspondent of the said
54. Le Lone ffardiere and soe to saile for London which accordingly
