Transcription

1. To the 7th and 8th hee referreth himselfe to the Registrie of this
2. Court.

4. To the Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]

5. To the first it is donne as required, and saith hee is ˹of the GUTTER˺ XXXX
6. in XXXXXX to the said widowe, namely hee married her mothers sisters
7. daughter, but favoureth the parties according to truth, and
8. soe would give victory, and otherwise negatively saving as aforesaid

9. To the second hee saith that this rendent imployed men to make the
10. said shipp tight and staunch as the said goods were beginning to be
11. laden and otherwise negatively saving as aforesaid.

12. To the third hee saith the said shipp was fully laden by the 28th
13. of November last old stile, and on the first of Nov december shee
14. was to have bin cleered at the Customes house, but the said Launders
15. went his way, and noe order was taken for her clearing, soe that shee
16. was forced to lay by that occasion till the fourteenth of May January
17. next following, and then XXXXX XXXXXX arrested for the XXX XXXX
18. of cloth thither imported by the said Launder, and detained till the
19. three and twentieth of the same moneth, and then the winde was
20. contrary till towards the end of ffebruary next following, and
21. of then as soone as the winde served shee departed and set saile for
22. London, and here arrived about a fortnight after.

23. To the fourth hee saith the said fish were laden in rainy weather
24. and received dammage in the transportation by meanes of very
25. fowle weather and greate stormes, which hee saith the said shipp met
26. with in her passage, howbeit hee saith the said dammage at
27. the time of the shipps arivall here and delivery might have bin
28. made good woth fiftie or sixtie Rex dollers at most. And
29. otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

30. To the fifth hee saith that the said shipps company assisted such
31. as the said Landers added to them to stowe all the goods, but hee
32. ordered and directed all the stowage himselfe, and saith the
33. said Christian weresoe hired the said shipps company to serve
34. in the said shipp, by the approbation of this deponent, and
35. otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition.

36. To the 6th hee saith that 8 barrells of the said tarr were
37. leaked out in the said passage and the same happened by the
38. said fowle weather, each barrell worth 16s 8d sterling, and
39. otherwise negatively, saving as aforesaid.

40. To the 7th hee saith there was about a day and halfes delay GUTTER
41. in delivery of the ˹rest of the goods˺ goods there in regard that Mr Southwood XXXX
42. ˹after receipt of halfe of thXXXX XXXX˺ XXX XXXXX pay this deponent the freight, nor XXX thereabouts
43. the further XXX XXXXXX thereabouts, nor receave any order from
44. Launder for his receipt of the ˹rest of the˺ said goods, but Mr Launders XXXX GUTTER
45. and ordering the delivery ˹of the said rest, they were delivered and˺ to XXX Mr Southwood hee and the
46. said Southwood received them. And otherwise cannot answer.

47. To the 8th hee saith the said Laundery paid only an hundred
48. and fiftie Rex dollers and a halfe in part of freight as BXXXX GUTTER
49. and paid six or seaven Rex Dollers to the Sailemaker for the
50. small LXXk sailes for the said vessell, And otherwise negatively
51. saving this deponent received XX of the said ˹1501/2˺ Rex dollers, and XXXXX GUTTER
52. Rex dollers and a halfe worth of ˹worth of˺ kersey XXXX received by the XXXXX XXXX and the Skipper 94 Rx dollers
