Examined upon the sayd Allegation.

Manuel Corea, of the Citty of Varinas in the
West Indies merchant of the age of four and thirty
yeares or thereabouts a witnes sworne
and examined deposeth and saith as followeth

To the first and second Articles of the sayd Allegation he saith and deposeth that he this
deponent hath knowne the arlate Lewis Fernandez Angell an Inhabitant
of Caracas in the west Indies for these twelve years last past, and saith
that he knoweth and is fully perswaded in his conscience that the sayd
Lewis ffernandez was and is the true lawfull and only proprietor of [the]
thirteene barrs of sylver arlate marked with the [three?] markes

in the margent, but how many barrs of each particular marke he [saith?]
he cannot depose, and for such a lawfull owner was and is commonly[?]
reputed. And he further saith and the reason of such his knoweing
is that he knoweth that the producent att Caracas aforsayd is and h[ath]
bene accompted an able merchant att Caracas, and was on board the
shipp Sampson allogate when the sayd Lewis ffernandez brought
thirteen barrs of sylver marked as aforsayd and laded the sam[e]
in the shipp the 'Sampson aforsayd then being upon one that came
on board with the producent whose name he saith he remembreth not
and the sayd barrs of sylver were so laded to be transported to Ostend
and there to be delivered to the party who laded the same, being
this deponent saith, the producent who was to goe[?] along [therewith?]
to Ostend, and was accordingly imbarqued att Cadize. And there[]
he cannot depose saving that he is verily perswaded that [these?]
barrs of sylver were for the proper Accompt, and were to have
been delivered in fflanders to and for the onely proper Accompt
of the sayd Lewis ffernandez Angell and saving that
sayd sylver was att Cadize aforesayd in the [quiet?] possession of the [sayd suriety?]

To the third and fourth articles of the sayd allegation this deponent [saith]
and deposeth that in the month of September 1652 but the particul[ar]
and forsayed day he remembereth not, the arlate Lewis ffernandez
Angell and his precontest Don Antonio de Ponte and this deponent
and several other persons whose names he cannot call to mynd being
on board the sayd shipp Sampson, Pedro de Campo Purser of [the]
sayd shipp whom thid deponent had knowne for some weekes bef[ore]
firmed three bills of Lading all of one tenor for the arlate [three?]
barrs of sylver, whereof the bill of lading now showne to [this?]
deponent att the tyme of his examination annexed to the sayd alleg[ation]
is one. And further saith that about the beginning of October [next?]
following the sayd shipp Sampson having aboard her the sylver ar[late?]
and the sayd Lade[ing?] thereof the producent in Company of the shipp
Salvadore wherein this deponent came as a passenger sett sayle a[nd]
departed from Cadize aforesayd, and about eight and twenty dayes a[fter?]
such their departure in their direct Course for Ostend were [seized?]
in the English Channell by a frigate of this Commonwealth a[nd?]
commaunded them into the Downes where the [ffleet?] of warr or a good par[t?]
thereof appertaining to this Commonwealth upon lay. And he [?] []
