with whose respective handwritings this deponent by severall yeares observation
is perfectly well acquainted for which reasons hee is fully assured that the
said two bills of ladeing annexed were and are two of the originiall bills of lading
signed firmed and filled up at or neare Cadiz according to the absolute trueth of the
matter, observing them punctually to agree with the bills of lading so seene
and perused by this deponent at Antwerp, before they were sent in a letter
(which this deponent also perused) to Mr. Rishoult a Merchant here in London
expressely for the reclayming of the sylver and moneys predeposed. And
further hee cannot depose.
To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition is true.
To the Crosse Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first negatively.
To the second hee saith hee hath knowne the interrate Edward Peters for
6 yeares last past or thereabouts, and the interrate John Lamotte for
about 4 yeares in person and Elias Ertwegh for about 4 yeares last past by Correspondency
And otherwise deposeth not, not being in the voyage in question.
To the third hee saith hee was not present at the ladeing of the peeces of
eight interrate.
To the fourth hee saith the said Edward Peters is an Antwerper borne, and
hath lived there for all the time of this deponents knowledge of him, in the
[?Kipdorp] streete with his family, and for severall yeares before had lived at Dover
as this deponent hath Credibly heard, and saith the said John Lamotte
is a Native of Brudges, and the said Elias Ertwegh of Duinquerke in
fflander and have lived in Cadiz ever since this deponent first knonwne
them by meanes of letters of Correspondency as aforesaid.
To the 5. and 6. hee saith hee did not see the signing of the bills of lading
interrate, And otherwise saving his foregoing deposition hee saith hee cannot depose.
To the 7th hee saith by vertue of his oath, That hee doeth not know nor
believe That the bills of lading annexed to the Allegation or the other bills
interrate were fictitious or Colourable, but made according to the trueth of
the matter therein contained.
To the 8th and 9th and 10th hee knoweth nothing thereof.
To the 11th negatively. And otherwise cannot depose.
To the 12th and 13. hee saith, That by reason of his intimate acquaintance with the
producents affaires hee hath beene admitted to see and peruse severall letters
sent by the producent to his said ffactors requiring them to send him silver
and moneyes in all free shipps coming from Cadiz to fflanders. And
otherwise cannot depose.
To the 14th hee saith, hee well knoweth That the said ffactors had in the
hands goods and efforts of the said producent, forasmuch as in the moneth
of ffebruary, 1652 the said producent by John de Vos aforesaid in his shipp
the Saint John Evangelist, and in the moneth of March 1652, by [?one] [?]
