Captain Richard Minors, commander of his Majesty's ship the ''Leopard'', wrote a letter to Sir George Oxenden dated October 9th, 1662, which he sent from Bombay.

Abstract & context


Captain Richard Minors, commander of his Majesty's ship the Leopard, wrote a letter to Sir George Oxenden dated October 9th, 1662, which he sent from Bombay.

The Leopard had departed London after February 1662, and had sailed first to Lisbon, where it took aboard the Portuguese Viceroy of Goa, and then had continued on towards Goa.[1] It was reported passing Augustine Bay in July 1662.[2]

Richard Minors appears to have been related to Richard Minors, gentleman, of Hollingbury Hall, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. A number of mariners issued from the Minor (alias Mynors) family, including William Minors of Hartford.[3]
