Abstract & context
This is a short letter from Sir George Smith to Sir George Oxenden to accompany a letter from Sir John Lewys (alias Lewis). These few lynes are only to accompany the inclosed from S:r John Lewys who now is in Yorkshire, w:th this shipp Returne goos S:r Gervas Lucas yo:r ould acquaintance, who is designed from his Maj:stie to be Govern:r of Bombay, I shall not need to XXXX [warn?] yo:r favour in his behalfe, yo:w being very ready to demonstrate it to all psons, espetially those of deserts, I have writt yo:w so fully by this connvighance Onley this I am to ?ade w:te much Sadness & greife that Mad:m Dalyson departed this life upon Satturday last, much lamented by her nearest relations, & all other friends upon Tuesday last shee was interrd at Clarkenwell Church The God of heaven fitt us for that great Change fore other matt:s I ?afford to those best acquainted w:te her affaires. I committ yo:w to God & Rest
