This is a short letter from Sir George Smith to Sir George Oxenden to accompany a letter from Sir John Lewys (alias Lewis).  It was sent of the ship ''Returne'', on which Sir Gervas Lucas was travelling out to take up the Governorship of Bombay.  Sir George Smith makes brief reference to the death of Elizabeth Dallison, and her burial at Clerkenwell, at a funeral attended by family and friends.

These few lynes are only to accompany the inclosed from S:r John Lewys who now is in Yorkshire, w:th this shipp Returne goos S:r Gervas Lucas yo:r ould acquaintance, who is designed from his Maj:stie to be Govern:r of Bombay, I shall not need to XXXX [warn?] yo:r favour in his behalfe, yo:w being very ready to demonstrate it to all psons, espetially those of deserts, I have writt yo:w so fully by this connvighance Onley this I am to ?ade w:te much Sadness & greife that Mad:m Dalyson departed this life upon Satturday last, much lamented by her nearest relations, & all other friends upon Tuesday last shee was interrd at Clarkenwell Church The God of heaven fitt us for that great Change fore other matt:s I ?afford to those best acquainted w:te her affaires. I committ yo:w to God & Rest
