have borne and undergone upon his owne Account the losse
of the sd 54 Caracca hydes and y:e said Chest of Tortoise shells
now Claimed & Otherwise cannot Answer,/.

To the 12:th hee saith that hee verily beleebeth that no:e Spaniard
or subject of the King of Spaine had since y:e Lading (the
sd Goods, and Share or Interest in them or any pt thereof.
And otherwise cannot Answer.

To the last hee saith hee knoweth, not of any Assurance made
upon y:e sd 54 Cazacca hydes & y:e sd Chest of y:e Tortoys shells
or any pt thereof And further cannot Answr,/.

The Claime of Cpwell, Canham, &)
others, for y:e Thomas aforesayd)

Examined upon an Allon made in the Acts if Court
on behalfe of the said Thokas Cowell,

2.dne THOMAS YOAKELEY of S:t Cathereones neer the
Tower of London Mariner, aged 31 Yeeres or
thereabouts sworne; and Examined./.

To the said Allon hee saith and deposeth that hee well knoweth the
ship the Thomas arlate, And saith that the arlate M:r Cowell
and one M:r ?Canlyam M:r ?Reed & Michael Yeakeley thelder,a nd Michael
Yeakley the Younger & this depo:t, Set out the said Ship, about January 1653
from this Port of London on a Voyage to bee made with her
from hence to Roan, & to other places beyond the Sea and XXX
the said Cowell Canham, and Reed, & XXX XXXXX XXXXX Lawfull Owners of her &
XXX XXX of there of her sd Owners went M:r of her, and saith the said ship, (being in her Course for this
Port & coming from Morlaix) was together with this Depo:t, & Company
seized by XXXX Brest men of Warr; on or about the fifteenth of Aèrill
1654: and saith that hee hath bin Certainely in formed by Letters
and otherwise that the said Ship Thomas was ?taken as aforesaid since XXXXX brought
unto ffalmouth; And further Cannot depose:

To the Interries

To the first he saith that hee knowe the said Ship Thomas. about
two yeares before. shee was seized by y:e sd three brest men of warr
and sawe heer last in Brest harbour after y:e sd time that she was seized & further saving as
aforesaid hee cannot Answer./

To the second he saith that y:e Thomas had noe Great Gunns on board her
at y:e time of he sd seizure that this Depo?t Knowth of, And further (saving
his foregoeing depon to w:ch hee referreth himselfe) hee cannoz Answer

To the last hee saith hee hath not seene y:e sd Ship Thomas or any of
her Anchors Cables. or sailes since her, being in Brest Harbo:r &
further cannot answer./:
