  • Go into edit mode
  • Insert immediately after the sentence or phrase you wish to annotate the following macro:<ref>This is the footnote text</ref>
  • Replace 'This is the footnote text' with the footnote you wish to add, using the format: first name, surname, title, (place of publication, date of publication), page or folio number
  • Save the page

John North of Lea in the County of Essex Marriner
aged 32 yeares or thereabouts sworne before the worshipfull William [?Sammuell]
doctor oof law Surrogate to the [?XXX] Sir Henry Mathew
Knight Judge of his Majesties high Court of the Admiralty
and examined uppon certaine Interrogatories ministred on the
behalfe of William [?Maller] and others sayeth and deposeth therto
as followeth videlicet

To the 2d hee sayeth That the sayd shipp the Thistle was
of the burthen of neere about two hundred tonnes and the
freighters and ymployers of her the said voyage
were William Waller William Hornier and Avery Dighton
London Merchants, and this examinate and his Company
the Marriners of her had had some goodes in her and the owners
of her that voyage were John [?Wardell] William Goodladd
William Jones Edward Grove John [?Sucart] William Driver John
Baccdorke Roger Rolf Saul North, [?X] and this
examinate.
