Merchant aged thirty eight yeares or thereabouts a wittnes<br />
sworne and examined saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet
To the first and second articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that<br />
in the yeares and Moneths arlate videlicet one thousand sixe hundred fifty five<br />
and 1656 the arlate Isaack Barton, and one captaine John Wills and<br />
one Mr [BLANK IN MANUSCRIPT] Pixley of London Merchants and otheres were then Owners of the arlate<br />
shipp the ''ffreindshipp'' and did sett and furnish her for the voyage arlate which<br />
was to be made with her under the Command of the arlate Thomas hyatt<br />
the Master of her And the sayd hyatt hyred the Mariners to goe the sayd voyage<br />
And hee this deponent was present at the ffleece Taverne in Cornehill<br />
London with the sayd Thomas hyatt and the sayd Bartion Wills and Pixley<br />
and sawe and heard him the sayd hyatt hyre the arlate Towers to goe Boat<br />
swaine of the sayd shipp the sayd voyage, and alsoe hyre two or three other<br />
mariners to goe the sayd voyage which as the said hyatt then declared to the<br />
sayd persons soe by him hyred was a voyage to be made with the sayd shipp<br />
from London to Gunney and from thence to the Barbados and from the Bar=<br />
bados to London, And well remembreth that the said hyatt did agree with<br />
the sayd Towers and other the Mariners soe by him hyred that their monethly<br />
wages for their service in the sayd voyage should bee paid them in<br />
London, at the end of the sayd voyage and not before, only that one or<br />
two moneths pay should be paid to their wives in their absence soe that their wives brought<br />
a note under their hands to the Owners of the sayd shipp for the same, And<br />
the sayd Towers and the sayd other Mariners then hyred did consent to such<br />
agreement to receive their wages at London at the end of the sayd voyage<br />
their sayd wives having a month or two moneths pay paid them in their<br />
absence, and this agreement hee saith was soe made in the yeare 1655<br />
at the place aforesayd in the presence of this deponent and the sayd Barton<br />
Wills and Pixley and about a moneth before the departure<br />
of the sayd shipp upon the sayd voyage And further to these articles<br />
hee cannot depose./
To the 3: 4th 5th 6th 7th and 8th articles hee saith that, for that hee went not<br />
the voyage in question hee cannot of certayne knowledge depose any thing to<br />
the Contents of the sayd articles, saving hee saith that the arlate Thomas<br />
Paramore and Tanira Devinian two of the sayd shipps Company who went<br />
the sayd voyage and returned back to London in the sayd shipp the ''ffreindshipp''<br />
did after their returne to London in the yeare 1656, af ffreshwharfe in<br />
London severall tymes saye and declare to this deponent in the presence of other persons whose<br />
names hee now remembreth not that the sayd shipps company were not<br />
to receave their wages for the sayd voyage till their returne to London, and<br />
that all her company except them selves had deserted and forsaken the sayd shipp<br />
and mutined against the Master of her and that none of her company<br />
hyred to goe the sayd voyage save the sayd Paramore and Sevinian did returne in her but all left her at the Barbados<br />
And further to these articles hee cannot depose/
