To the first Article of the said Allegation this Deponent saith that<br />
hee very well knoweth, and is well acquainted with the arlate<br />
Henry Jelfe, who hee saith was hired by the arlate<br />
Edward ffa[?nnXX] to be Master of the hoy the ''Katherine''<br />
''and Thomas'' (whereof the said Richard Cleeve is<br />
now Master.) And that the said Jelfe and this Deponent<br />
and his Contest John ffowler, being in Company<br />
together, and this deponent asking the said Jelfe how long<br />
hee had served in the arlate Hoy the ''Katherine and Thomas''<br />
hee the said Jelfe made Answer that hee had served in<br />
the said hoy two and thirty weekes, And this deponent asking<br />
him what wages hee was shipped at, and what hee had<br />
receaved of the same, he the said Jelfe was shipped at<br />
20 s per weele, and that hee had receaved but six and<br />
Twenty pounds of his said wages, or words to the same<br />
effect, And further hee cannot depose.
To the 2d hee saith that the arlate Richard Cleeve was<br />
made Master of the arlate Hoy the ''Catherine and Thomas'' by<br />
the arlate Edward ffa[?mmre], about seaven weekes before<br />
Christmas last, and a short time before the said Cleeve<br />
being Master of the said Hoy, hee the said Jelfe left the said<br />
Hoy and never came into her service againe; of this Deponents<br />
