To the Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first it is donne as required, and saith hee is ˹of the GUTTER˺ XXXX<br />
in XXXXXX to the said widowe, namely hee married her mothers sisters<br />
daughter, but favoureth the parties according to truth, and<br />
soe would give victory, and otherwise negatively saving as aforesaid
To the second hee saith that this rendent imployed men to make the<br />
said shipp tight and staunch as the said goods were beginning to be<br />
laden and otherwise negatively saving as aforesaid.
To the third hee saith the said shipp was fully laden by the 28th<br />
of November last old stile, and on the first of Nov december shee<br />
was to have bin cleered at the Customes house, but the said Launders<br />
went his way, and noe order was taken for her clearing, soe that shee<br />
was forced to lay by that occasion till the fourteenth of May January<br />
next following, and then XXXXX XXXXXX arrested for the XXX XXXX<br />
of cloth thither imported by the said Launder, and detained till the<br />
three and twentieth of the same moneth, and then the winde was<br />
contrary till towards the end of ffebruary next following, and<br />
of then as soone as the winde served shee departed and set saile for<br />
London, and here arrived about a fortnight after.
To the fourth hee saith the said fish were laden in rainy weather<br />
and received dammage in the transportation by meanes of very<br />
fowle weather and greate stormes, which hee saith the said shipp met<br />
with in her passage, howbeit hee saith the said dammage at<br />
the time of the shipps arivall here and delivery might have bin<br />
made good woth fiftie or sixtie Rex dollers at most. And<br />
otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
To the fifth hee saith that the said shipps company assisted such<br />
as the said Landers added to them to stowe all the goods, but hee<br />
ordered and directed all the stowage himselfe, and saith the<br />
said Christian weresoe hired the said shipps company to serve<br />
in the said shipp, by the approbation of this deponent, and<br />
otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition.
To the 6th hee saith that 8 barrells of the said tarr were<br />
leaked out in the said passage and the same happened by the<br />
said fowle weather, each barrell worth 16s 8d sterling, and<br />
otherwise negatively, saving as aforesaid.
To the 7th hee saith there was about a day and halfes delay GUTTER<br />
in delivery of the ˹rest of the goods˺ goods there in regard that Mr Southwood XXXX<br />
˹after receipt of halfe of thXXXX XXXX˺ XXX XXXXX pay this deponent the freight, nor XXX thereabouts<br />
the further XXX XXXXXX thereabouts, nor receave any order from<br />
Launder for his receipt of the ˹rest of the˺ said goods, but Mr Launders XXXX GUTTER<br />
and ordering the delivery ˹of the said rest, they were delivered and˺ to XXX Mr Southwood hee and the<br />
said Southwood received them. And otherwise cannot answer.
To the 8th hee saith the said Laundery paid only an hundred<br />
and fiftie Rex dollers and a halfe in part of freight as BXXXX GUTTER<br />
and paid six or seaven Rex Dollers to the Sailemaker for the<br />
small LXXk sailes for the said vessell, And otherwise negatively<br />
saving this deponent received XX of the said 1501/2 Rex dollers, and XXXXX GUTTER<br />
Rex dollers and a halfe worth of kersey XXXX received by the XXXXX XXXX and the Skipper 94 Rx dollers
