IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN The Nyneteenth day of October In the yeare of our Lord Our Thousand Six hundred Seaventy ffower And in the Six and Twentieth yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles The Second by the grace of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the ffaith xr I John Prowd of Stepnie in the County of Middlesex Marriner being of good health of Body and of sound and perfecet mind and memory in Consideraton of the certainty of my death and the uncertainty of the Tome Doe make these presents to bee and Conteyne my last will and Testament

AND FIRST in all humble submission to the Divine will and pleasure of Almighty God I doe Commend myselfe Soule and Body into his most Gratious hands and protection to be disposed of for life or Death as shall make most for his owne Glory And my present and Eternall good and welfare And for such worldly Estate be it Reall or personall which I shall through the Goodnes of God be possessed and seized of in my owne right and to my owne use att the time of my decease I wholly give devise and dispose thereof as followeth

AND FIRST as for and concerneing All those my ffreehold and Coppyhold lands Tenements and hereditaments with their and ?every of their appurtenances scituate lying and being in the parish of Much Stanbridge in the County of Essex heretofore in the Tenure or occupation of Thomas ffritten or his Assignes And now or late in the ?Tenents or occupaccon of Samuel Sharpe or his Assignes I hereby give devise and bequeath the same lands and Tenements with all and every the Rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my deare and Loving wife ffrances Prowd for and during the full Terme of her naturall life And from and after her decease to such Child or Children as my said wife shall have by mee the said John Prowd And to the heires of their bodyes lawfully to be begotten But if it shall please Almighty God to take me from his world before I have any Child by her my said wife, or if such Child or Children shall happen to dye without Issue of their or any of their bodyes Lawfully to be begotten Then my will and mind is And I hereby give devise and bequeath All and every my forementonned Lands and Tenements scituate in the parish of Much Stanbridge aforesaid and every part and parcell thereof And all my Estate right ?tith and interest property Clayme and demand in the same unto her my said Loving wife ffarncis Prowd and to her heires and Assignes for ever And as concerning All those my Coppyhold Lands and Tenements lying and being in Much Baddow als Great Baddow in the County of Essex now or late in the several occupaccons of Benjamin Judd James fford and Phillip Belcham or their Assignes with their and every of their appurtenances All which I lately surrendred into the hands of the Lord [BLANK in document] of the Manno:r of Much Baddow als Great Baddow of which the same are ?holden To the use of my last will and Testament I hereby give and devise the same and every part and parcell thereof unto my said deare wife ffrances Prowd for the terme of her naturall life And from and after her decease I give and devise the same unto Sarah herbert the daughter of Jospeh Herbert BXX ffrances herbert his late wife And into herires and Assignes of the late Sarah for ever

AND as for and concerning All those my other lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever scituate lying and being in the parishes of Chislett and Reculver in the County of Kent or in one of them which said Lands and Tenements I had purchased of S:r James Oxenden Knight and Dame Margarett his wife And of henry Oxenden Esquire and Elizabeth his wife Conteyning by Estimaton One hundred and Threescore Acres of Meadow or Masrsh Land with all and singular the appurtenances be the same more or lesse which were Conveyed by them unto me the said John Prowd and unto Joane Prowd my then wife who is ?sithence deceased for the Terme of our Two naturall lives The Remainder over to the Right heores of me the saod John Prowd for ever

NOW my will is And I hereby give devise and bequeath unto her my forenamed deare and Loving wife ffrances Prowd All and every Those my forementtond Messuages Cottages Lands and Tenements And all those One hundred and Threescore acres of Meadow or marsh ground scituate in the foresaid parishes of Chislett and Reculver or one of them in the said County of Kent TO HAVE and to hold the same unto her the said ffrances Prowd her heires and Assignes forever UPON spetiall Trust
