2. Edward Briggs of Shoreham in the County of
3. Sussex Mariner, aged 40 yeeres or thereabouts Master
4. of the said Barke the Willing Minde sworne and
5. exámined.
6. To the said allegation hee saith that the said vessell the Willing
7. Minde whereof this deponent is master, and concerning which there
8. is controversie in this Court, was built at Shoreham aforesaid
9. about seaven yeeres since, by one Bartholomew Xolvile a
10. Shipwright there dwelling, by the order and for account of the
11. producent John humphrey and company, who defrayed the charges
12. of such her building, and then (as the manner is) tooke a bill
13. of sale of and from the said Carpenter, the premisses
14. touching her said building hee deposeth and knoweth because hee
15. this deponent then living in Shoreham saw her soe building
16. and after her finishing, hee saith the said Captaine John Humphrey
17. went some time (namely a yeare and halfes space or thereabouts)
18. master of her, and then hee and company put this deponent master
19. of her who sailed her (and soe now doth) for their account
20. and as their vessell, and as owners hath made them account
21. of her freights from time to time, And that hee is now
22. in possession of her to their use, and shee was at the time
23. of the arrest allegate laid upon her at Bristoll (which was
24. about two monethes since) and soe hath bin ever since. And
25. otherwise hee deposeth not.

29. To the first hee saith that being himselfe a quarter part owner of the
30. said shipp the Willing Minde, hee cometh voluntarily
31. to testifie in this cause, And saith the said Captaine John Humphreys
32. is owner of a quarter part, Bartholomew Woolvin of Shoreham owner
33. of an eighth part, John Xunter of Bright hamson owner of
34. an eighth part, William Gillam of Brighthamson an eighth part
35. and William humphrey of Brighthamson owner of an eighth
36. part of the said shipp tackle and furniture, and otherwise hee
37. referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.
38. To the second hee saith hee saw the said vessell and was aboard her
39. this very day, and saith that shee was brought to Bristol by
40. ffrenchmen, who deserted her upon the arest laid upon her by this
41. deponent and others the said owners
42. put a man aboard her to looke to and keep
43. her for their use. And otherwise referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition.
