1. The seaventh of ffebruary 1656.
2. <margin value="Left">On the behalfe of George Burrard}
3. of Plimouth Merchant touching}
4. a losse in the Industrie.}</margin>

6. Robert Weyman of Plimouth Merchant, aged 29
7. yeares or thereabouts sworne before the right
8. worshippfull John Godolphin doctor of lawes one of
9. the Judges of the high Court of the Admiraltie
10. and exámined upon certaine Interrogatories ministred
11. on the behalfe of the said Burrard saith as followeth.
12. To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee well knew the goods shipp the
13. Industrie of Plimouth interrate whereof William Evans was master
14. at that time of her last being at Bordeaux in the Realme of ffrance,
15. from whense hee saith shee departed in or about the end of November last
16. bound for Plimouth, which hee knoweth being masters mate of her
17. and then on board her.
18. To the second third and fourth Interrogatories hee saith hee well
19. knoweth George Burrard of Plimouth Merchant, ans daith the
20. said Burrard was whole or part freighter of the said shipp the said
21. voyage, and sent XXX ˹his˺ factor one mr Smith from Plimouth to Saint Ives in
22. Cornewall to see there to her lading with fish for Bordeaux; And
23. saith there were the said voyage while the said shipp was at Bordeaux
24. laden aboard her by a factor there (whose name hee remembreth not)
25. fourteene tunns or thereabouts of wine, two tunns and a halfe or three
26. tonnes or therabouts of brandewine and about seaven tunnes of prunes,
27. all to be transported in the said shipp to Plimouth and thense to be
28. delivered, and saith that in as much as mr Burrard was freighter
29. and soe sent his factor to see to the said shipps outwards lading, this
30. deponent conceiveth the said homewards lading taken in at Bordeaux
31. to be belonging to him or a good part thereof, but this examinate
32. cannot speake positively of his interest ˹therein˺, not seeing or signing the
33. bills of lading, nor knowing further thereof than as aforesaid.
34. And saith the said shipp soe as aforesaid departing from Bordeaux
35. and prosecuting her voyage with the said goods for Plimouth, XXXX
36. comming within tenn leagues or thereabouts of Plimouth, was on
37. or about the sixth of december last met with set upon and
38. ˹forcibly˺ seized by an Ostend man of warr, and carried with the said
39. wines, brandewine and prunes to Ostend whether shee came
40. on the tenth of the same moneth, and soe all the said merchandiue
41. were and are ˹utterly˺ lost to the said mr Burrard or to whomsoever the
42. same were belonging, and the said shipp was alsoe lost by the said
43. seizure, all which hee knoweth, being masters mate of the said
44. shipp the Industrie and aboard her at the time of the said seizure
45. And saith the said XX shipp of warr of Ostend was by her
46. company called the Josas-Maria, and commanded by Claus
47. Gritten Grittoon, as Captaine of her.
