1. That the schedule hereunto annexed beginning An Inventary/ etcetera
2. and ending 752.15. was and is the such in all the particulars and
3. summes thereof for and touching his sequestration and imprisonment at
4. Lisbone by authoritie of the kinge of Portugall.

12. aged 37 yeares or therabouts sworne
13. before the right worshippfull the Commissioners in the
14. Portugall businesse and exámined upon certaine Interrogatories.
15. saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet.
16. To the first ˹and second and third˺ Interrogatories hee saith and deposeth that hee well knew
17. the shipp the Roebuck whereof William harper was master, and saith
18. that humphrey hill of London merchant having laden aboard her ˹in this port˺ in or
19. about the moneth of ffebruary 1647 ˹old stile˺ two bales of Spannish silke to be
20. transported to the port of Lisbone for the accompt of John hill and company
21. consigned then thither to this deponent (who was there resident) for
22. the said accompt; and saith that in the yeere 1648 the said shipp with
23. a lading of goods (amongst which were the said two bales) arived in the
24. said port of Lisbone, and shortly after such her arivall her goods were
25. landed and put intp the Alfandigo or Customehouse of the said king ˹of Portugall˺;
26. And further that in the yeere 1650 there was a generall sequestration
27. of at lisbone of all goods and merchandizes belonging to ˹any˺ English and
28. then remayning and in the said Alfandigo or customehouse in the said kings
29. Dominions. And saith this deponent hee the said bales of silke
30. were marked and numbred as in the mark margin, as by the lettres and

34. bill of lading sent this deponent after the said lading by the said
35. humphrey hill appeared. And that before the said sequestration
36. this deponent dispatched and received one of the said bales (namely
37. that of No. j) out of the said Alfandigo and disposed thereof for
38. accompt of the said John hill and company, but did not receive
39. or disptach the other of the said bales thense soe that hee beleeveth
40. the same was disposed of by the said king ˹or his˺ officers, and the ˹this deponent˺ having
41. received a certificate by order of the Provedar mentioning amingst
42. other things the XX entrie thereof in the Customshouse or Alfandigo
43. and the same being consigned to this deponent and hee another certificate
44. by the same authoritie of what goods hee XXXX ˹this deponent˺ dispatched out,
45. in which last certificate the said bale is not contained or mentioned, nor
46. was ever received by this deponent (to whom the same was consigned)
47. and, therefore the said bale marked as aforesaid and nombred G, was
48. and is lost to the said John hill and company. whereby they are
