The same day.
Examined upon the aforesaid allegation.
John Bollet of Embden Coxen of the said shipp the Golden
Lyon, aged 30 yeares or thereabouts.
To the first and second articles of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that
hee well knoweth the shipp the Golden Lyon arlate and hath the producents
hendrick [Garrard] John Buddey, Luders Ff[XXX], derrick Buddey and company
of Embden, and saith they have bin and are the true and lawfull money and
proprieter of the said shipp the Golden Lyon and of her larder and [furniture]
and lading of whale blubber and finner and of such commonly arranged
and hee knoweth being an [XXX] company, and seeing hee sett one by [XXX]
from Embden in April Cast for Greenland on a fishing voyage [XXX]
catching, from whenn hee was to returne with what hee tooke from
Embden of the accompt of the said producents, who are the Greenland
company of Embden, and saith then this said shipp haveing made an end of her
whale catching at Greenland, returned with the blubber and finner for
Embden she was to discharge, and in her course [XXX] in Cast
off the River of Embden was met with and seized by Captaine Brandley
and others in the service of this State and with [Jonne] Brandley [belonging]
either [XXX] to [XXX] which hee knoweth being one of her company
as aforesaid and joined this said voyage in her and being aboard at the time
of the said seizure; and [XXX] the said shipp about tenn yeares since was
of this deponents [XXX] and knowledge built at Embden by some of her said
mariners. and otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the third article and schedule annexed hee saith and deposeth, That upon the seizure of the said shipp
and her ladeing, this deponent precontest the shipper John Arianson were aboard
the said Captaine Brandley, together with this deponent and others of the said shipps
Companie, and there the said shipper carried his sea brief into the cabbin
of Captaine Brandleys shipp, which this deponent then saw, and believeth that the
said Shipper did then declare unto the said seizure That he and he said shipp [XXX]
to the Port of Embden, and that the said shipp and her laideing were [free?]
and saith that the schedule annexed is well knowne to this deponent to be an
