Richard Clarke (b.<ca.1637; d.??ca.1656). Mariner.
Resident in Wapping 1n 1653, and for sixteen years prior to that date (since circa 1637).
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Richard Clarke, a mariner, deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on October 3rd 1653. He did not give his age, but stated that he had been resident in Wapping, Middlesex, for the last sixteen years. He was examined on a libel in the case of Robert Lewellin and Company against Henry Powell late master of the Hopewell.[1]
Clarke made a second deposition on the same day in the clearly related case of "Powell and others against Austin". He was examined on an allegation on behalf of Austen.[2]
