Forty year old Roger Robeartes deposed on August 9th 1654 in the High Court of Admiralty. He was examined "On the behalfe of Captaine John Lynes late commander of the shipp the Sampson of London".[1]
The case concerned the seizure of the ship the Sampson at Bahia in Brazil by the King of Portugal in May 1649.
