IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Phillip Strode of London Merchant now resident in Aleppo The twenty ffifth day of July in the yeare of our Lord one Thousand six hundred fifty and Nine doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament

FIRST I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and Redeemer confessing my manifold sinnes for which if god should enter into Judgment with mee I were never able to abide it ?But my onely prayer and hope is that God will pardon my sinnes through the meritts death and mediacon of Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour into whose holy hands I Commend my spiritt besseching him to receive it to eternall happines my body I give to bee buryed in Christian Buryall decently accordinge to the rites of the Churche of England and pray to God to give mee a joyfull resurrection

my Worldy goods I dispose as followeth

FFIRST I give and bequeath unto my Brothers X M:r William Strode and M:r Nicholas Strode and my sister M.rs Elizabeth ??Hazlarkonden Twenty pounds stearlinge to each of them to buy mourninge

SECONDLY I bequeath and give unto my old ?Nurse Goodwife ??Gronestead Thirty pounds Starlinge and if shee bee dead to bee equally devided betweene her children

THIRLDY I give and bequeath to M:r Robert fframpton Minister in Aleppo one hundred ??Rix ??dollrs

FOURTHLY I give and bequeath to my brother in lawe M.r Richard Holworthie Thirty poundes Starxx to buy him mourninge

FFIFTHLY I give and bequeath to my deare sister M:rs Mary Holworthy one Third part of my estate my debts and the aforesaid legacies beinge first paid

SIXTHLY I give and bequeath to my sisters M:rs Rebecca ??Harvey and M:rs Anne Crisp one Thirde part more of my estate to bee equallie devided betweene them still provided that all my debts and legacies abovewritten bee first satisfied excepting that to my sister M:rs Mary Holworthy

SEAVENTHLY I give and bequeath to my Brothers M:r John Strode and M:r Edward Strode the remaininge third part of my estate to bee shared equally betweene them with the same provisoe misXXXXX in the foregoinge legacies (alsoe I desire that these my legacies may bee paid in two yeares time after my decease to the respective persons mentioned herein but if any of them should happen to depart this life before that this my will is that it shalbee equalie devided amongst their children But if they have no children That then it shall fall to my sister M:rs Mary Holworthy onely what legacies are to bee paid in Aleppo I desire then may bee satisfied immediately upon my death

EIGHTLY I doe constitutre and ordaine M:r Thomas Stanton my Assigne and lawfull attorney to take into his possession all goods and moneys belonging unto mee either by consignacon or otherwise to dispose of these which are for principalls accompts according to their order received or hereafter to be received And for my proper estate in the Country to give accompt thereof to my Executor hereafter named and to follow his order the disposall thereof

Lastly I doe ordaine and appoynt my brother M:r Richard Holworthy my sole Executor of this my Will

In Witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare aforesaid utterly renouncinge and avoydynge all other and former wills by mee made and establish this onely as my last Will and Testament being all written with my owne hand all contained in ffifty six lynes without any thinge interlyned or blotted out

FIFTHLY I give and bequeath to Abdalla ?M:r Sprigneils warehouseman five Royalls 8/8 provided hee first payes what hee oweth mee on accompt

SEAVENTHLY I give and bequeath to the poore of Aleppo Twenty Ryalls 8/8 and order it to bee distributed by M:r Robert fframpton

EIGHTLY I order M:r Thomas Stanton my Assigne to pay Naomn my warehouseman for one yeares washings Alsoe to pay George my Cooke and Naomn the younger what I owe them upon accompt These Addicons were all written by M:r Robert fframpton and acknowledged by mee Phillip Strode

FURTHER whereas it was my minde before I sealed those addicons to make M:r Hawly Bishop Joynt Assignee with M:r Stanton for all the purposes aforesaid Namely to take care of my whole estate with the estates of all my principalls to pay all the debts I owe and call in those which are owing to mee I declare by these presents that I doe constitute and ordaine the said M:r Hawley Bishop Joynt Assignee with M:r Stanton for the purposes aforesaid
