1. or heard of notwithstanding that this deponent and his said master
2. have used all diligence to finde out and recover the same. And saith
3. the said goods soe wanting and lost were worth the summe of two
4. hundred and sixtie pounds sterling ˹or thereabouts˺. And otherwise hee cannot
5. depose, saving that it was in or about November last that this
6. deponent soe went to receive the said goods, and many times since
7. hee hath bin at the Prize office about the said goods soe wanting
8. and gone, but can could heare noe newes of them,/

on the behalfe of the said Pursell
and others.

John Bradborne of the Inner Temple London.
gentleman aged 20 yeeres or thereabouts sworne and
exámined.

22. To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth
23. that in or about the end of the moneth of A March 1649 and
24. beginning of Aprill 1650, the arlate William harris Thomas
25. Bowyer and Richard heaman or some of them had treatie with
26. the arlate Thomas waters, Thomas Pursell, hugh Massey
27. and Richard Webb ˹and with Richard Best since deceased˺ or some of them about letting or hiring
28. out the said shipp the Mathew and John allegate in sewerall
29. proportions of tonnage in the shipp the Mathew and John to them
30. the said waters and company at freight, and did shortly after agree
31. and did by Charter partie bearing date dat the 22th of the said
32. moneth of Aprill 1650 did let the said shipp sewerall proportions
33. of tonnage in the said shipp to XXXXXly freight to the said
34. Waters and company, as by one part of the said Charter partie
35. under the hands and seales of the said william harris, Thomas
36. Bowyer and Richard heaman which this deponent hath now with
37. him and whereunto haris a witnes now fully appeareth, And
38. otherwise referring him selfe to the said Charter partie (the
39. Counter part whereof ˹is remayning˺ hee XXXXXXto be in this Court) hee
40. cannot depose.

41. To the second hee saith that in and by the said Charter partie
42. it was agreed and covenanted that the said shipps went monethly
43. imployment was to begin at and upon the day that the said shipp
44. should have made all her fish at the Newfoundland, and then to GUTTER
45. begin to receive the same into her for the severall accounts of the
46. said waters and company, and for more certaintie herein hee
47. referreth himselfe to the said Charterpartie, And otherwise hee
48. cannot depose.

49. To the third hee cannot depose, not being in the said voyage, nor
50. knowing ought thereof otherwise than as aforesaid
